Two full papers accepted at EuroHaptics 2026, presented in Siena, Italy

Two full papers from commissure were accepted at EuroHaptics 2026, the international conference on haptics, and presented there. One of them was selected for oral presentation (17% of all submissions). These are our first international conference presentations of research carried out solely by commissure.

Alongside the oral and poster presentations, we discussed the work with haptics researchers from around the world through accompanying demonstrations.

“AudioHapticDiffusion: Synchronized Audio-Haptic Generation via Shared Latent Space”

An AI model that generates sound effects and haptic stimuli at the same time. In the physical world, a single event can be understood as producing multiple sensory stimuli in synchrony. Building on that idea, the model branches from a single latent space into two generation branches, one for sound effects and one for vibration. The vibration branch is trained with DPO to keep its output plausible, while sharing a latent space keeps the two consistent so that temporal alignment does not break down. Alignment methods of this kind have been studied in multimodal audio-visual generation; this work applies one to haptics for the first time.

“DERS: Distribution of Eccentric Rotational Skin-stretch induce Directional Force Sensation on a Wrist”

We propose a method that presents a directional force sensation using rotary motors and shaped stimulation elements, with almost no specialised actuators or mechanisms. It extends our shear stimulation technology and is applied directly in FeelFuse. The experimental method itself is conventional, but anatomical factors bias the direction participants report even under the same control law, which makes the perceptual results interesting in their own right.
