Releasing Tactile Arena, a comprehensive catalogue of tactile sensors for robots
commissure Inc. has published Tactile Arena, a catalogue site for comparing tactile sensors for robots side by side.
Touch is essential to dexterous robotic manipulation. Sensors have proliferated rapidly — vision-based fingertips, pressure arrays, force/torque types and more — but there was no single place to compare them across operating principle, form factor and price range. Tactile Arena answers this with a catalogue that can be filtered by form factor, sensing principle and modality.
Twenty-nine sensors are registered so far (including 9 finger types, 16 vision-based types and 17 open hardware designs). The data is published as JSON under CC BY 4.0, and additions and corrections from the community are welcome.
