Teaching material for adoption decisions, built from research and the field

Research in haptics and somatic information science, together with joint field trials that measured craft skill, provide the questions and exercises used in the programmes.

The training provides the knowledge and the exercise material needed to consider adoption. Individual PoCs, on-site OJT, data collection and robot implementation are answered case by case, once the problem and commissure’s part in it are confirmed.

Bringing the cost down with the subsidy

The programmes are designed around Japan’s human resources development subsidy, with the applicable course and the roles it covers confirmed for each company. Where the requirements are met, you can apply to the “reskilling for business development” course.

Participants and procedure
Employees insured under employment insurance at the applying company. The company submits its training plan to the competent Labour Bureau, in principle between six months and one month before the start date.

*Only prescribed costs are eligible, excluding consumption tax and other exclusions, and there is a cap per person per programme. The company pays the full cost of the training and then applies; whether it is granted, and how much, is determined by the competent Labour Bureau. Attending this training does not guarantee payment. As of 3 August 2026. The course is a time-limited measure through the end of FY2026, and its terms may be revised.

Frequently asked questions

Content and choosing a programme

Can we attend with no prior knowledge?

Yes. The Physical AI theory programme starts from the whole picture and assumes no prior knowledge. For the other programmes, we confirm each participant’s experience and role before proposing the content.

Which programme should we choose?

There is Physical AI theory for the whole picture, adoption design and PoC for how to run a trial, and the machine-specific programmes on collaborative robots and humanoids. We suggest candidates based on what you are currently reviewing.

Can several departments attend?

Yes. Business planning, production engineering, R&D, manufacturing and others involved in the review can attend together. Where the subsidy is used, the applying company confirms, for each participant, that the training relates directly to their role.

Can we attend before deciding to adopt anything?

Yes. The programmes help you take stock of where the technology stands and which tasks are easy or hard, as material for judging whether and when to adopt.

Can you use our own process or the machine we are considering?

We ask in advance about the process, the problem and the machines under review, then set out what the training can cover. A PoC plan or implementation design specific to your company is handled separately from the training.

Do we work with real machines?

Whether real machines are used, and which ones, depends on the programme. The balance of hands-on exercises, observation and classroom work can be confirmed when you enquire.

The machine-specific programmes

What work are collaborative robots suited to?

Assembly, inspection, transport and feeding — work with a lot of repetition — are the main candidates. The programme covers how well they fit your own processes, including peripherals.

Can collaborative robots be used without a safety fence?

That is decided by a risk assessment for each task. Even with a collaborative robot, a fence cannot be omitted for every task. The programme covers how to read the safety conditions.

Are humanoids ready for practical use?

It depends on the task and the environment. The programme sets out what is possible today, what remains hard, what data is needed, and how to judge the timing of adoption.

Conditions and support

How long is the training, and in what format?

Programmes designed around the subsidy are off-the-job training of ten hours or more, excluding time that does not count. Dates, number of sessions and whether it is in person or online are decided with the content.

How many people can attend?

The recommended and maximum number depends on the programme and the exercises. Small groups and multi-department sessions can also be arranged.

What does it cost?

Fees are quoted individually once the content, format and number of participants are confirmed.

Can we also discuss a PoC or adoption support afterwards?

Yes. Building on what the training clarified, we set out separately what we can take on for individual PoCs, data collection, and robot adoption and implementation.

When can we start?

After you apply, commissure confirms your preferred timing and whether you will apply for the subsidy, and the date is fixed by agreement. Where the subsidy is used, the applying company must in principle submit its training plan at least one month before the start date.

The subsidy

Can we use the subsidy?

Where the requirements are met, you can apply to the “reskilling for business development” course of Japan’s human resources development subsidy. Eligibility is assessed by the competent Labour Bureau, based on the company, the participants, their roles and the training plan.

How much is covered?

The rate for eligible costs is 75% for small and medium-sized companies and 60% for large companies. Consumption tax and other items are excluded, there is a cap per person per programme, and the amount is determined by the Labour Bureau’s review.

Who applies, and by when?

The company attending applies. The training plan is submitted to the competent Labour Bureau, in principle between six months and one month before the start date.

Can you handle the application for us?

commissure provides the documents a training provider can issue — curriculum, schedule, attendance records. Preparing and submitting the application, and responding to the review, is done by the company or a labour and social security attorney it appoints.
