Exhibiting a co-creation project on digital skill transmission in traditional crafts at JAPAN CRAFT EXPO at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai

Since April 2024, the Japan Craft Association, Ikutouen Co., Ltd., Keio University, Nagoya Institute of Technology and commissure Inc. have worked together on “CrafTouch”, a project that uses digital technology to record the skills of artisans and pass them on to the next generation. The work is based at Ikutouen, a kiln in Okinawa with 300 years of Tsuboya ware tradition, and explores the future of Japan’s traditional craft industries.

Results from the project will now be exhibited at the JAPAN CRAFT EXPO (organised by the Japan Craft Association and The Yomiuri Shimbun), held from 16 to 18 June 2025 as part of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.
